This morning, visit Goryokaku Tower to learn more about the history of Hakodate. For a perfect end to the day, proceed to the 334-metre high Mt Hakodate for spectacular panoramic views of the city.


Take a morning visit to Hakodate morning market, a vibrant and atmospheric spot where selling various types of fresh seafood. In Japan, nothing exemplifies this more as sashimi. Pick, sample and purchase the day’s freshest and most mouth-watering catch at your own expense.

Then, proceed your way to Hakodate Factory, where the red brick warehouses from the city’s trading past have been redeveloped into a chic waterfront dining, shopping and entertainment area.

Next, visit Onuma Quasi-National Park where you are able to snap beautiful photo with it’s wonderful scenery. Make your way to Mt Showa and Showa Sinzan Bear Ranch, during your visit. These bears are trained by professionals to delight visitors with just the, ahem, bears necessities: to wave and greet visitors upon their arrival. You may photograph and feed these fuzzy animals at your own expense. Pick up skincare products derived from horse oil at the local souvenir shop.

Next visit Lake Toya photo stop where you can take beauty for photos. Your day will reach a boiling point as you traipse through the sulphurous valley to experience boiling ponds and steaming streams at the famous Jigokudani, also known as Hell Valley. End your day with an invigorating sulphuric hot spring bath at an onsen resort in Noboribetsu.

This morning. Chocoholics rejoice, for your day begins after a fortifying breakfast with a stop at Ishiya Chocolate Factory. Next visit, Otaru Canal, where charming century-old stone warehouses line both sides of the canal.

The genteel theme continues at Otaru Music Box Museum, where whimsical displays of beautifully crafted music boxes will delight even the grumpiest of cynics. Thereafter, create pause – you are on holiday after all – and enjoy a quintessential afternoon treat on your own expense. End your day staying at Jozankei onsen resort.

With its pristine waters, vast pastures and bracing air, Hokkaido is renowned for churning out some of Japan’s best dairy products.

Today, ramble through the panoramic flower gardens of Shikisai No Oka*. It is a paradise of seasonal blossoms from spring through to fall, in which several dozen different species of flowers and grasses flourish.

Next visit Furano Herb Hill for lunch and you able to shop some of the famous Hokkaido products. Thereafter, stop by Otokoyama Sake Brewery and Museum in Asahikawa to learn more about the production process of one of Japan’s finest sakes. You will also get the opportunity to sample different types of sake. All that is left is to say “Kampai”.

Tonight, wind down and indulge in a relaxing mineral hot spring bath at an onsen resort in Sounkyo, in the company of memories of a day well spent.

This morning, bid farewell to Sounkyo and make your way to Sapporo, the capital of Hokkaido prefecture. Go all out and embark on a quick shopping spree at Mitsui Outlet Park Sapporo Kitahiroshima, an outlet mall that boasts a plethora of domestic and imported brands under one roof.

Next, proceed to Odori Park, located in the heart of Sapporo. This beautifully manicured green space is a charming assembly of monumental fountains, sculptures and flowerbeds. Each winter, its verdant grounds play host to the famed Sapporo Ice Festival.

End the day with a stroll along famed Tanukikoji Shopping Arcade, the longest shopping street in Hokkaido.


After breakfast, spend the day exploring Sapporo at leisure. You could drop by the Sapporo Beer Museum to learn all about one of Japan’s oldest and most popular beers, and of course, sample the beers available.

If you prefer to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, Maruyama Park may be an ideal destination. Surrounded by forested hills, the park hosts various family-friendly playgrounds, open fields as well as the Maruyama Zoo, one of the most nature-oriented zoos in Japan.
